ASC concept

ASC is an automation program dedicated to archiving sessions with the following concepts/features:

Choose archiving objects to be processed
Takes into account links between archiving objects and archiving calendar
Control dates overlaps
Sets the selection criteria
Create necessary variants
Creates and schedules the jobs
Restart jobs in case of interruption

Archiving areas and options
Archiving area is an ASC concept that allows you to archive separately using different archiving rules such as organizational entities, retention period, archiving periodicity, SAP AS retention periods.
In addition, archiving option concept makes it possible to define detailed specific archiving rules. Options allow separate management of document types, total/items documents, or CO object types.ASC makes it possible to manage complex archiving rules in order to generate organized archive files. Archiving areas and options are provided with a detailed archiving sessions’ breakdown. This concept is very effective:

For worldwide SAP systems where numerous companies are managed.
When retention periods are different depending on document type. Archiving runtime may be greatly reduced.
When there are further issues related to system or company sales splits.

Archiving session management rules

Capability to define customer's pre or post-processing.
Computation of archived documents rates for business archiving objects.
Capability to save archive files before starting deletion runs.
Capability to customize start over frequency when a process is interrupted.
Obsolete ADK files may be unloaded from SAP AS information structures.
PBS add-ons processing automation.
Delayed sessions processing: This option is particularly useful during the initial archiving project and for initial productive archiving phase.
Archiving object relationship may be enforced, in order to define mandatory archiving sequence.
Several ASC may run simultaneously. ASC design prevents any redundant object archiving.
Total number of batch process used by the ASC may be customized. This setting may differ depending on operation mode (day or night).
Calendars and timeslots setting.
Simulation capability: Simulation allows customizing test in order to check variant content that will be used during archiving.
